OVERVIEW
Cilantro leaf has been used for over 5000 years, and is known outside of North America as coriander leaf. It is a historically prolific herb, having been brought to Britain by the Romans, who then brought it to North America. Spanish conquistadors introduced it to Peru and Mexico, where it spread north to the Americas.

The fresh or dried leaf and stem, chopped.
TYPICAL PREPARATIONS
Can be used to make teas, but more often used in cooking. Thinly sliced beef can be seasoned with Cilantro and used as part of a salad or as an essential ingredient in an Asian noodle dish such as lo mein.
SUMMARY
Combining cilantro with onion or garlic increases its ability to keep food fresh. It was also thought to be an aphrodisiac, and is mentioned as such in Tales of the Arabian Nights over 1000 years ago.
